Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
Good day gents,
We're looking to have a full slate of pilots this week so that's a great way to start our ACM sessions. I know some of the past material was a bit dry, and while interesting and challenging to master at times, I know we've all been looking forward the moment when we start to hone our skills against the Mig 15.
I think you'll enjoy this next phase in our training syllabus. All ACM background reading material is posted and complete, so no more text to hunker through. From now on we learn hands-on in the cockpit with an eight man squadron that will improve our learning curve while generating more fun in the process.
I'm hoping that the Georgian Spring server is up and running on Saturday/Sunday so that we can practice against the Mig AI. If not, then we'll assemble as usual in the Korea! 1952 server and practice against any unfortunate Mig pilot who happens to fall under our guns.
See you then.

Re: Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
Good luck boys! I'll sort out my version issues so I can hopefully join you next run.
DCS 2.5.1. Open Beta
Sorry you and Alpine had rolled out the new version. I checked the Korea! 1952 server after that update to confirm if SeaQuark had updated, and it was still operating on 2.5.0.
He had stated in one of his posts that the Korea server will only run the stable version, but since 2.5.0. Open Beta offered some substantial upgrades, he opted to update that one time.
I'll continue to track this roll-out, but I would not expect us to switch to 2.5.1. until the Alpha is released.
My bad, I should have posted something to keep everyone on track.
As for Alpine, not sure exactly why he can't run 2.5.0.
My only suggestion, pending his new computer purchase, is to do a complete un-install, then delete the DCS World parent folder (make sure you move your sound files, skins, missions and DCS SRS to a temp file) and then download a new install. Hopefully the new rig will solve that problem.

Re: Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
I think my issue was that I never uninstalled or converted the 'alpha' to the 'beta'? But...is the beta the release version now? I have no clue anymore.
DCS World 2.5.0
Hi Wolverine,
DCS 2.5.1. Open Beta is a new release intended to address some issues with memory management etc and all these fixes will be rolled out eventually in DCS World 2.5.1. Alpha.
DCS World 2.5.0. is the stable or Alpha version that we are using currently and which most of the servers are using. We will stick with this version until DCS World 2.5.1. Alpha is released.
DCS 2.5.0. Open Beta was the previous version we were using, and those files were used when DCS rolled out DCS World 2.5.0. Alpha. The "download" from the DCS website actually implemented a copy/paste of the bulk of the 2.5.0. Open Beta files into your DCS folder to create DCS World 2.5.0. In order to complete that copy process, you needed to un-install the older version of DCS from that folder. (e.g. the folder for Open Beta was called DCS 2.5.0. Open Beta, while the new DCS World 2.5.0. folder is simply called DCS)
DCS 1.5.8. would have been installed in your DCS folder, so you needed to un-install 1.5.8. in order for DCS World 2.5.0. to copy into it.
DCS 2.5.0. Open Beta should then be un-installed once you successfully complete the DCS World 2.5.0. install (after saving your personal files).
In the end, the only folder remaining should be called DCS which is where DCS World 2.5.0. Alpha will run.
I think someone should write a book.

Re: Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
Ugh. And I bet when I try to fix this I'm going to lose all my control setups....
Re: Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
Firstly, I would recommend keeping your 2.5.1 as it currently is rather than trying to revert it.
Secondly, I would recommend downloading 2.5.0 from the DCS site https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/
You will need to log into DCS with your usename and password.
Once you have installed 2.5.0 you may be able to copy your control setup (.diff.lua file) from your 2.5.1 instal to your 2.5.0 instal.
I have both my DCS World (that is 2.5.0 Release version) and my DCS Open Beta (that is 2.5.1) on the G Drive SSD.
In my C Drive Users/......../Saved Games/ I have a DCS directory and a DCS.openbeta directory. In both these I have created an Aircraft Controls folder in which I save the controls setup for each of my aircraft (for example F86.diff.lua). In this way when I change any of my setups in either the 2.5.0 version or the 2.5.1 version I can then copy it across to the other version in order to keep some consistency between the two versions - at least as far as each aircraft's control setup is concerned.
Best of luck. Cheers

Re: Sabre Flight - Intro to ACM
Well I was able to get on Korea server and I was able to use all of the controls I'd set up using the alpha/beta/ham-a files, so I think I'm good to go.
I just got rid of the alpha release thing I had. It was taking up a lot of space and the only real reason I had for it before was to run the nevada map and better graphics. Now that everything is 2.5.x, I didn't really see the point.
So I'm good to go with 2.5.0 now for tonight.
