DCS 2.5
This is the release announced last week as an "update" to the current Open Beta only. The download/updater app will be released tomorrow.
We don't need this version.
We will wait until the full 2.5 "new" version is released and only after server Korea! 1952 has been updated.
We can expect in about two weeks, a final update to the DCS Version 1.5.8 which will be the last for this version. After that, the Caucasus map will be incorporated in the 2.5 full release.

Re: 2.5 is here.
I have updated. Started at 23:00 last night and finished at 12:34 today. It is a very very large update.
The update removes DCS World 2 (open alpha) - it asks whether you want to do it and I said yes.
I have had no problems with getting into KOREA 1952, spawning into a F86 and flying on the server.

I will follow Speed's lead and wait....then set aside a day and a half to download 2.5. Meanwhile trying to get to grips with the F86-F.

Re: 2.5 is here.
I was wondering where Korea 1952 had gone!
I'll also wait for the final version to be released unless Speed decides otherwise.
I am scheduled to be connected to the NBN (fibre optics to the node) on Tuesday 6th Feb. After that I will have unlimited downloads, hopefully a bit faster than I now have.

DCS Version 2.5
As Devil said, the DCS release is a 2.5 update to version 2, so it will not change your DCS 1.5.8. Since they stated that it was a large update, I just thought that it would make sense to wait until the final version which will replace all current version 1 and 2 files.
Korea! 1952 has been offline for two days now. I've not checked today, but StiC and I are scheduled to fly at 02/02/18 0030 Z tonight so I hope it's up and running. Anyone else who might want to join in, please do.

I can only get 1 server showing in 1.5.8 multiplayer, "AEF 161 Private Server", which is password protected.

DCS 1.5.8. Servers - Korea! 1952 UPDATED TO DCS 2.5
Looks like I was wrong about this one.
Took some searching but I found this post in the ED forums (looks like Devil's intuition was right on):
NEWS:
* 1/30/18 -- Server has been moved to the 2.5 OpenBeta. Server will likely return to the Stable release once 2.5 is available for it. So far, mission is working smoothly, no major bugs!
So, we all now need to download the update for 2.5 OpenBeta to continue our flying.
I currently have Open Alpha, so I don't know how this will turn out?
I've started the Version 2.5 Open Beta download at 6.30 PM local time. Should be done by Saturday!!
P.S. Don't forget to move your DSC SRS script files over to your new Saved Games/DCS Open Beta scripts files. Just follow the original install process, but change the script/hook file locations. If you have your DCS SRS main folder under program files, you shouldn't need to move it.
We might also need to remap our Sabre controls?
Good morning folks. Coffee and bagel are done, sun is shinning on this cold Friday morning, it's just about 9:00 AM and the DCS 2.5 updater is still downloading. Actually, it just switched to "installing files" and now it's downloading more "updates". Going on fourteen hours at this point. Hard to believe in this day and age that internet technology can be so far apart from one region of Canada to another. Like I said, I should be ready for Saturday night.

DCS Version 2.5.0 Install
Installation is complete.
Issues included DCS 2.5 crash every time I tried to enter a multi-player server.
Solution:
Physically delete your DCS Open Alpha folders from:
C\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\
C\Users\USER NAME\Saved Games\
Before deleting the main folder, check to ensure you save the following files:
Copy and paste into DCS Open Beta your saved missions from C\Users\DCS Open Alpha\Missions.
Copy and paste into DCS Open Beta your saved missions from C\Users\DCS\Missions
Copy and past any user installed sound files from both DCS and DCS Open Alpha and place them in the applicable DCS Open Beta sound files folder.
Copy and past your A/C settings from C\Users\Saved Games\DCS and DCS Open Alpha (they should located right at the top of the file structure)
After I deleted the DCS Open Alpha folder from Program Files/Eagle Dynamics and the DCS Open Alpha folder from my user\Saved Games folder, I was able to get into the Korea! 1952 folder.
Looks great. Winter is in full blast, but I've got a retirement luncheon to attend followed by a dinner with my sister-in-law and her hubby tonight, so can't play until tomorrow.
Still need to get online and test DCS SRS after downloading the update and moving those files into Program Files and DCS Open Beta.
I'll check the forum tonight when I get back to see if there are any outstanding issues before we fly on Saturday.
Cheers

First Flight on DCS 2.5
So finally everything works again. As before, I had to completely remap all my controls.
Just need to verify DCS SRS works tonight so same drill as before, meet 10 minutes prior to take off on 401 TS, then we'll jump into DCS, get ground power on (don't start until cleared to do so), and we'll conduct our radio check on CH 11, before switching to CH 02 for the mission update.
So far so good.

2.5 Open Beta
That's great! Hope to see you on Monday night as we are re-starting the pilot training syllabus and will cover all the basics of the F-86 instrumentation and flight controls.
With any luck, we'll get Cavy and Kooka in at the same time and get everyone up to speed.
Still some glitches in the Open Beta version as we found last night, so hopefully these will get sorted out for the Alpha release in a few weeks time.
Check out the lessons learned from last night.

Another update was released for this weekend. File is 417 MBs in size. Please ensure you have this downloaded prior to logging on tonight.
I caught the flu bug, so I'd like to get the A-4 Sights and Jett Controls training done ASAP.

Mig15 Aggressor Squadron
Just picked up a few new posts on the DCS Forum Korea! 1952 thread suggesting that an aggressor squadron is forming for Mig15 pilots to increase participation during server missions.
Sea Quark mentioned that 36 total participated last Sunday. Once we complete training, might be something we want to look at as they collect and maintain pilot stats much as we did during our original CoD campaigns. e.g. create a pilot character and fly as that person until you get killed/captured after which your score goes to zero and you start as a new person.
That kind of incentive should help eliminate the suicidal pilots.
