I just ordered one for Christmas. One of the 450 guys has one and recommends it.

I ordered one as well. Great price and I'm interested to see how well the tracking works without the lighthouse tracking base stations that the Vive uses. Those were a pain to set up in a small space like my office.

Well it showed up today and it is really uncomfortable. I don't know what they were thinking with that design. It's like strapping a brick to your brow. Luckily most of the issue is with the face gasket which can be replaced.

Plus additional support for you head.

I'm going to try it later to see if the headset is worth upgrading. If not, I'm afraid it's going back.

Aw, that's not good. Hope the guts of the thing are worth it.

So I decided to keep it. The screen really is quite an upgrade over the Vive. Cockpit text is still slightly blurry, but everything else is awesome. It's much easier to identify aircraft out to about 500 yards without zooming in.
I ordered the VR Cover face gasket 2 pack. One for me and one for Wolvie if he keeps his Odyssey.

feels like a brick
Hi guys,
once you get use to it you don't notice the weight, I've had mine for over a year i just wish i had known about the + with NSD i would have waited the 7 months but i will wait and buy another one when i can afford it.
The one that you have bought is much lighter than mine and the nose and face pad design has changed, you will not be disappointed and tracking is second to none i have the a new MSI laptop with a gen 9 I7 9700, 1660TI 6gig in it and it is VR ready and i have loaded 5 games on it so far to try out the headset and no lag the only thing i will say to you all is you need a good light on in the Room for the tracking or the light from the monitor is enough but the biggest thing to make it smooth is the new 1660Ti this is amazing.
cheers

Hey Cavey,
Unfortunately I broke down my shipping box, but you'd be looking at roughly $120 Canadian which includes $500 coverage.
From what I've read simmers prefer the original Odyssey because the NSD tends to blur the image somewhat.

Got a chance to try mine out. SDE is pretty much gone unless you're looking for it. The sweet spot for detail is pretty small I find, probably explained by what StiC was saying with the NSD. But the overall visuals are better than the original Vive.
I still find the whole process with these devices to be aggravating mostly because if you've got the thing plugged in, DCS will launch in VR mode no matter what, even if you don't have SteamVR running. If either of you have a solution for that please let me know.
Also it seems like copying my controls settings over from my Windows 7 install to my Windows 10 one didn't carry over quite as advertised so I'll need to set up my HOTAS stuff again before I'm proficient in the cockpit.
I'd be very curious to try out the Valve Index to see if it's everything people say it is and how much of a difference it is from the O+.

My solution with the Vive is to have the link box on a power bar with an on/off switch. I haven't tried it yet, but apparently the O+ can also use the link box. Here's hoping. I can't wait for all this to go wireless.
Since all of the gear is interchangeable, the Index is why I haven't sold my Vive. It's been tempting to sell it and pick up a Rift S, but i'm holding out for an Index.
