WINGS OVER GATINEAU SEPT 14 / 15
Attention all No.401 Pilots!
If you're able to get to Gatineau, Quebec for the 14th and 15th, there is a Vintage Wings airshow to be seen!
http://envol.vintagewings.ca/
I believe a few of us are planning to attend. I've purchased my tickets!
There's a few options for tickets (parking will be in grass fields south of the airfield and free with a free shuttle to the show).
You can purchase a general admission or you can buy admission with photographers access. You can also upgrade seating (a separate ticket purchase).
Let us know if you're coming!

I got the full set (photographer's pit & better seating thing). It's kind of a birthday present for myself. I'll have some No.401 Squadron goodies to give away as well to any members who come out.
Re: WINGS OVER GATINEAU SEPT 14 / 15
Sadly,it appears that I might not be able to make the trip as my wife's nephew is coming up for a ten day course in radiology in Hamilton, and my driving services might be required,I'll know better in a week or so.

Aw, that's too bad.
My Dad is going to be coming up with me now. We're going to camp at the nearby campground that the site links to. We'll see all of Saturday's show and most of Sunday's before having to head back.
Hopefully if you can make it, we can all meet up on Saturday for a drink and a photo op. Like I said, I'll have some squadron goodies to pass out too (so make sure you find me if you're there!).

Day One
Great show so far!
Saw DNR in the line up as we got there (or he saw us - hard to recognize him without the moustache) and then went to get our badges. Dad and I had a spot in with e photographers. Our dinky little camera seemed about one hundredth the size of the things these guys had. But the spot was good and near food and facilities.
Went back to find dnr and give him his 401 Squadron pack ( including patches and pins ). Then got back to my dad for the show.
Very emotional seeing that Lancaster fly with Spitfire mk.XVI, P40, P51 and a F4U Corsair escorting it. Those engines are amazing. Dad and I were situated right behind the Lanc during its run up and boy do those engines roar. Glorious stuff.
Later on, when the Lanc was parked I was able to get inside it and talk with the crew a bit and see all the stations. It's an amazing piece of machinery. Harvard aerobatic display was great and we really enjoyed seeing the F86 Sabre.
Going to go back for a bit tomorrow morning before the long drive home.
Pictures and video as soon as I can.

I've got plenty. I just need to figure out a way to host them. I'll probably upload them to the ftp when I get home today. I tried to upload my flyby of the Lanc yesterday, but Youtube spit it out with an error.
Wings over Gatineau
Great shots Wolverine,
I was great to see you again and meet your Dad. And thanks for the 401 Patch, wings (wow could not take my eyes of those WWII pilot wings) and Hurricane pin. Great momentos for a great day.
Your photos really capture the beauty of these magnificant aircraft and I went to bed that night with the soothing rumble of eight Merlin engines humming in my ears.
We need to follow up with another event next season and get Alpine and StiC up for a visit.

Yeah, we need to be able to head to the bar in a finger four formation.

And walk out in a staggered formation.Wolverine wrote:Yeah, we need to be able to head to the bar in a finger four formation.

Re: WINGS OVER GATINEAU SEPT 14 / 15
I'm uploading all of my pics and movies to the 401 squadron ftp as I type. Hopefully it'll be done in an hour or so (the upload connection here is really bad).
Re: WINGS OVER GATINEAU SEPT 14 / 15
All photos and videos are not posted to the FTP site. Connection info is in the barracks.
