Rise of Flight Channel Map
Rise of Flight Channel Map
If any of you have Rise of Flight, then you might have received an update recently regarding the 'Channel Map' that they've been making. It's not ready yet, but they've got screens of it and it looks, for lack of better words, pretty amazing.
They've built up a pretty good game in RoF. Unfortunately, the WWI aircraft aren't my cup of tea but it's definitely a great simulation model.
The reason I bring it up is that this channel map gives us pause to think perhaps that they might at one point move on to the 1940s and the second world war. All they'd have to do is start modelling WWII aircraft into their game. If the flight mechanics work with their simulation base, we might have another contender on the horizon. I certainly hope so.
The business model of RoF has become free with paid additions/enhancements. So for example, if they put up a Hurricane, Spitfire, Defiant, etc. you might only want the Hurricane so that's all you pay for. In the end, if you want everything it ends up being pretty expensive, but Flight Sims aren't cheap and not getting cheaper with the lack of general interest these days. For us sim buffs, though, it's hard to resist. I know I've spent quite a bit of money on Rise of Flight for a game I rarely play!
So just a heads up to everyone. If you haven't tried Rise of Flight, you might want to do so with the thought that perhaps there will be a WW2 simulation coming out of it in the future. It's free, so there's no reason not to.
