Very interesting evening yesterday
Yesterday evening I was a guest at the 97th birthday celebrations for the Royal Australian Air Force. The reception was hosted by the new Commander Air Training Group, Air Commodore Glen Braz. When I was chatting with him I discovered he owns a flying CAC Sabre and a P51. The Sabre is at the Temora Aviation Museum and the P51 at the RAAF Point Cook Museum. He told me that the Sabre is a joy to fly - more fun that the Super Hornet (he commanded No 1 Squadron Super Hornets from 2008 to 2011).
The RAAF is the world's second oldest Air Force having been formed from the Australian Flying Corps post WWI. RAAF Base point Cook is the world's oldest continuously operating air force base.
Here is a link to a couple of pics of the Sabre https://aviationmuseum.com.au/raaf-ca-27-sabre-album/

Our connection to living history
Thanks for that Dev,
I've often felt in awe of these men who were front and center in our collective histories. Usually mild mannered and soft spoken, they were terrific warriors in their day and inspire us by their memories and personal examples.
I hope you plugged yourself as a virtual pilot in the making!! I'm sure he would be interested to know that ex military men like we few still have a keen interest in what they did so many years ago (and more recently too!!)
Great story
Thanks
