Good run last night
Gentlemen,
Checking in from the Luftwaffe. I will say last night was good fun, tracking down the returning bomber flight and then being forced into high speed passes by the escorts. Thoroughly enjoyable. Is there a portion of the forum where I can see the unclassified parts of the campaign? I obviously don't want to know your targets ahead of time or anything (though knowing how to work the Freya would be good), but I'd love to see the post mission stories.

Hi GloriousRuse,
You certainly did very well as a singleton threatening the bombers limping home.
You can see an unclassified version of our report at:

Excellent. I'll keep looking for you over the fields and waterways, to defend the fatherland - or its recently liberated french territories.
So, for bonus points, how do I use the Freya Radar set up? Because your Beauvais raid did indeed draw me off at first, and only after I and my AI compatriots destroyed a good portion did I manage to get a good ground control vector on the "live" raid. I suspect the freya would have helped with that.

You need to connect to the different towers. Each tower has a town listed where the radio tower is located. This indicates what sector of the map it covers. By connecting to different towers and requesting enemy contacts, you'll get a picture of where the enemy aircraft are.
In this case, it would have picked up the decoy raid as well as the true raid once they launched it from England. But it will only pick them up once they've started across the channel.
You have to keep requesting updates from the tower to update the contact location information. Each request gives you the current snap shot view of where everything is, but again, each tower is only responsible for a small section of the map. You need to fly along the coast, picking up each tower as you get within range, and requesting their contacts.

Just wanted to check in again and say thanks for last night. It was a good time, and I really enjoy your campaign. Now, we'll see if I'm saying that when your rodeo puts me in the drink...

Another tense and exciting night, even for not pulling the trigger a single time. It was like one of those kung fu films where the entire battle happens inside the heads of the characters. It also becomes evident how strategically valuable the defense was. While Ezzie had to bail out of his riddled 110, his crews landed safely. Less can be said for the 12 air crew in the 2 wellingtons. Its amazing that the british managed to handle those crew losses.

Well done gentlemen, you smoked me and ezzie good last night. While flugellman dorf survived, it is clear that we will have to re-evaluate our tactics for dealing with fighter sweeps.

It's pleasing to see history bear out in these missions. Rodeo's were capable forces. Unfortunately, every allied aircraft downed was a lost pilot, reverse of the BoB. Eventually deemed not worth the loss, though keeping aircrews skilled and learning tactics had its own advantage.

Another good night gentlemen. Particular thanks to those who take on the role of Blenheim pilots, with the nervy job of piloting the big beasties into target...and back.

Another fun one. All due credit to Rob for ending my audacity over Tangmere.
I can't wait to see the campaign history once it declassifies.

Good times gentlemen. RAF is getting sneakier, overtaxing us poor ground controllers. Took me a while to find the first rodeo, and I would have missed the second one entirely while we were cutting up the un-escorted Wellingtons if Wolverine hadn't been kind enough to say they were starting up.
My apologies to Sticc again, and Wolverine one day I'll stop to tangle, honest. Just not when there's six of you around waiting for me to turn.

I had two of your AI comrades for dinner as they went for the bombers. I'll have you next!
PS, you should be able to view posts from the first campaign section of the BoB series now.

And true to your word, I did, indeed, have to crash land on Cherbourg. If only I'd pressed Hawk a little harder before you got there. But the LW will learn form its errors and strike back.

Re: Good run last night
The LW is seriously considering the survivability of the Zestroyer groups, and maybe wonders if they should be converted to night fighters....
Great missions last night, and great to see new blue faces as well. I will also admit on mission two it was fun to see the tables turned (and turned back again) and the british trying to hit and run.
And that makes two personal deaths to greedy gunnery...getting to be a problem here, but at least my co pilots who survived will make sure I get a posthumous Iron Cross.

Great stuff. Getting a little short on Hurris there at the end...does that ever factor in to missions or is it just a nicety?

If we don't have enough to field the squadron, the mission would be a failure.

You can see the subforums above the training section on the main page. They're the ones with the pictures.
