Prototype buttons
My original plan was to use the the scrap from the panel cutouts as buttons. After all they are the perfect fit. This would have involved stacking and gluing all of the pieces together, painting them and, engraving them one at a time with the white standing out against the dark grey I planned on using.
Today I saw this post and really was inspired by the button design.
So I went back to the drawing board and 3D Printed a button with a void to place a white acrylic insert which will be painted and engraved. The best part is, when I have all of the dimensions worked out, I can paint an entire sheet of acrylic and then cut and engrave all of the inserts in one shot.

lol. I wish. I learned that you should let your flammable, aerosol paint completely dry before burning it with a laser.

Ha! Amazing. I would say you should have got pictures, but I'm guessing you were busy trying not to burn down the maker lab.

Started the wiring today when one of the Makerspace employees took this for their social media. The next version will have back lighting on at least the panels. Keys and knobs will likely have to wait.

Looks very convincing StiC, you're a man of many talents!
If I didn't know better I'd think someone removed it from the real deal. Nice work.
Say, do you think you could print me up one of those BMW M4s?

Version 5
A new version to nail down the enclosure, chassis and mounting bracket. Back lighting items just arrived so I'll be adding those next.

With the value of copper going through the roof, if you can find some 1996 or older coins in there, they're probably worth 'a pretty penny'. Pre '97, the pennies were 90+ % copper. Just on the metal alone, they'd be worth 2.5 'cents' each.
