MSS Awarded to Flight Lieutenant Wolverine

The following communiqué was received at No.401 Squadron Headquarters dated 1 December 2012.

F/L Wolverine of No. 401 Squadron (RCAF) through selfless devotion to the RAF cause and tireless efforts to implement an effective combat assessment and flight control process, almost singlehandedly assured significant success for 11 Group operations during the recent campaign to defend Southern England from Luftwaffe bomber and fighter attack. His innovative solutions to plot Chain Home contacts and vector the incoming direction of hostile formations, combined with his insightful analysis and calm and decisive command and control of RAF squadrons greatly improved the rate of successful interception which resulted in more favorable RAF kill ratios compared with past RAF actions. For his exemplary service to the Air Combat Group and determination to enhance operational effectiveness, he is awarded the Military Services Shield.
