ESM Awarded to Sergeant Alpine

Attention all Squadron Pilots and Staff:

Sergeant Alpine is awarded the Exemplary Services Medal for his actions on Aug 5th, 2012 in combat against enemy forces above the south eastern coastline of Kent.

During an afternoon raid on Manston AF, Sgt. Alpine, along with his flight, were vectored to intercept bombers at 12,000 ft. During the ensuing engagement, Alpine single-handedly pursued and destroyed four of the enemy's bombers at no cost to his own flight or equipment. Given freedom to engage on his own, Alpine made full use of his Hurricane to devestating effect and returned safely to England's shores thereafter.

For these actions Alpine is therefore awarded the Exemplary Services Medal. His flight log for this sortie may be found here.
