Thanks Everyone! Warfront Testing

Post  Wolverine on Sun Nov 16, 2014 1:01 am

A big thanks to everyone who helped to test the Warfront server mission tonight. We were 36 of 36 at one point, guys. That's a first for us.

Not only that, but the new mission held up to it and performed well. A bug here and there with the ground targets, but those are simply issues with my dumb object placement, not the server.

People seemed to be enjoying themselves and those of us who were organized and attacking enemy positions were able to capture territory whilst those who were simply looking for dog-fights or not dedicated to the overall objective were held back and gained no ground. Remember, to take an enemy held position you need to destroy ALL ground targets in a town and at entrances to larger towns and cities. In addition, the bigger cities have large targets in the center which need to be bombed out to a percentage of objects destroyed. Some targets will need bombs (buildings, tanks, etc.) and some can be taken out by MGs alone (trucks, AA guns, etc.).

I'm very pleased. We may or may not disable skins again. It's unclear if that feature is having too deleterious an affect on the server gameplay. We'll give it another week or so. If you fly Red, don't forget to grab the Invasion striped Spitfire skin available on the forum.

Thanks again, everyone.

Wolverine,

I only had time for a short session on the server today and liked what I saw. Just one question re plane sets - I tried a couple of airfields and only saw c-4 and c-7 Bf-110 variants. These don't have auto PP and the c-4 doesn't have bombs. I was wondering if this was a conscious decision by you to limit the -110 variants?

Its not a big issue and if this is a conscious decision that's fine -I'll stop looking thru the airfields for a lazy mans auto pp capable 110 next time I'm on.

This will encourage me to fly more air to ground missions which is not something I've done much of so that should be a good change for me.

Looking fwd to flying again soon.

Ezzie

Hmm. Not sure.

In your my documents, the file is in \1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\PaintSchemes\Skins\SpitfireMkIIa folder?
You can also put it into the other spitfire folders to have it available for the Ia etc.

As long as it's in there, you should be able to select it from the list where you set up your aircraft number, serial, etc.

I think we need to organize a weekly evening flights on the server.
I can only speak for our group - 1. / St.G.129. Today we did not have much, but we have fun. I propose to appoint a day of the week for a day of action ... This is for all who are interested in this project. As for us, we comfortable Tuesday or Thursday evening from 17:00 - 18:00 GMT. What do you think?

Unfortunately, that time doesn't really work for most of us here. We're primarily North American / Australian so that time is mid afternoon and very early morning on work days for us. You will probably need to find opposition from one of the other European squadrons during those hours.

Hi Cassius,

Thanks for the post! Yes, the server had a bit of a bug with the frontline file. I've adjusted it and all SHOULD be correct. I'm still trying to squish this particular bug which causes a corruption of one of the .mis files required to update the frontline positions. It only shows up occassionally. You guys were seemingly able to take most of the map without it appearing until today.

Hi again!
After that, our guys went on the attack on Caen.
The northern part of it was already occupied after the attack ground units. Guys knocked the eastern part of the city, and the border was rendered on Channel.
